Spring Break 2010: New York City

Hello ALL.
I have decided to start a BLOG!! Welcome to my life- let us party ;).
The real party should have begun in New York City.
Currently I am sitting in a hotel bed in Detroit, Michigan. How on EARTH did I end up HERE?
It all started in Oklahoma City; my three best friends, Lauryn, Liz and Belinda and I were packed and ready to escape the noble nothingness of OKC. We were yearning for a real adventure after our dreadful midterms.
After a delish and nutrish fabbity fab lunch at Cool Greens (trendy new spot to dine and look trendy ) we headed to the airport.
PROWSE CHECK- also known as “Do you have your phone? Do you have your wallet? Do you have your suitcase?” Or sometimes Prowse Check means “Where is Prowse. Where did she wander off to…etc
After a couple of these we were on the first flight to Detroit Michigan. Where we still are and have not left yet. Our connecting flight was CANCELLED!
After standing in line for literally hours trying to figure out where to go and when the next flight was, I discovered we were being watched. We were being watched by a Creeper, who we soon named the Bearded One. (because he had a scruffy looking beard, you see. Quite hilarious) Belinda and I were in line avoiding his gaze, but sort of spying on him at the same time- this was amusing to us for at least an hour while we waited.
We also discovered ALL of our friends from OCU going to New York for Spring Break *there is about twenty of us* were also stranded across the entire America at different airports!! My friend Brett was in DC, alone, and had tied his suitcases to his body so that if he fell asleep no one would try and steal them. Another group of friends were partying it up in Atlanta’s airport lobbies, making the most of the unfortunate delay. And my friends and I were stuck in Detroit with the Bearded One and no flight available until the NEXT DAY!

So here we are; after much deliberation and line-waiting, we discovered that we could stay at the Marriott Hotel for free (thanks to Lauryn’s connections). The hotel isn’t bad, slightly shady, but it has a nice “disco tech style” concerning decorations. Our room has one King size bed and a pull out couch. My friends are flipping a coin as to who sleeps on the couch, I just started unpacking my stuff on the bed.
So because of the time change it is 1AM- we have to get up in 3hours in order to get to our flight on time. Beautiful. I have no clean clothes to change in to, no face wash. Nothing but my laptop, a fierce leather jacket and a book I just bought- The Time Traveler’s Wife. I hope it’s good; I am really not in the mood for a sappy romance novel so I hope I don’t vom while reading it. Ive heard good things- so cross your fingers.
Cheers to good friends, suspicious hotels, a couple hours sleep, and Spring Break 2010!
Now I must go because it is vital I use the next two hours to get some beauty rest.
—Goodnight Detroit.
